Frankfurt is located at the heart of the Frankfurt/Rhine-Main
metropolitan region, which has 3.8 million inhabitants and just under two
million employees, an important European financial and service centre and a key
traffic hub.
Frankfurt is not only a cosmopolitan city; it
is a green city, too. That is the message conveyed by more than 200,000 trees
tended by the Parks Department on the city’s streets and in public spaces. Of
the total city area, 52 per cent comprises open spaces and water. And if you
look closely, you will see palm trees along the Main, dunes in the GreenBelt, a
wilderness at the former airfield and large expanses of woodland. Frankfurt
has the right shade of green for everyone.
